Job summary

Career Team in Memphis, TN, is seeking a Career Advisor to provide career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services onsite at the WIOA program. You’ll work under the supervision of the WIOA Program Lead and help participants qualify and access services.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree, strong communication and analytic skills, proficiency with MS Word/Excel, and the ability to engage diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong communication skills and knowledge of community resources.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to make well-informed decisions.
• MS Word and Excel skills at a minimum; ability to learn specialized databases and software.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and case management services to the community and eligible WIOA participants.
• Collaborate with the Intake Specialist to complete intake and eligibility determination for the workforce program.
• Assess job seekers’ employment, abilities, and training needs through interviewing, testing, and other methods.
• Serve as a liaison between workforce development programs and community partners.
• Enter data into VOS and process clients through the information system as required.
• Guide job seekers through the preparation of individual employment plans based on occupational goals.
• Stay on top of labor market trends and best practices.
• Counsel clients on available job opportunities, training programs, and other services.
• Refer individuals to appropriate services and follow up on activities.
• Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs, and other group presentations for clients.
• Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation.
• Maintain accurate individual case files ensuring required eligibility documents and compliance.
• Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks; participate in staff events and trainings.
• Complete all required reports within the data management system.
