Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking an Assembly Quality Engineer in Detroit to help support line-side problem solving and data analytics for engine assembly. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements and ensure defect reduction across the production line.

The role emphasizes hands-on work in a plant setting, use of PFMEA/SPC tools, and strong communication to keep leadership updated on progress and issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Engineering Technology with 2+ years in manufacturing or quality.
• Experience leading root cause analysis and problem-solving to resolve quality issues.
• Knowledge of quality systems, PFMEA, SPC, corrective actions and CI practices.
• Experience analyzing assembly data to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Strong collaboration and communication across cross-functional teams.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, CMM operations, and manufacturing quality inspection.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate problem solving for defects per unit and first time through.
• Coordinate quality objectives with other departments.
• Drive continuous improvement by implementing error-proofing.
• Keep management informed of progress and pending problems.
• Drive issues to closure through quality feedback loops.
• Analyze assembly process data for trends and concerns.
• Work with Advanced Quality Tools (PFMEA) to ensure a quality assembly process.
• Analyze SPC data and collaborate with manufacturing engineering for process improvements.
• Hands-on in a plant environment with engine assembly.
