Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support Engines and Axles assembly lines on the 2nd shift in Detroit, MI. You will own technical issues, optimize maintenance procedures, and partner with line supervisors to meet daily production metrics.

The role requires a Bachelor's in mechanical engineering, strong communication, and hands-on experience with tooling, BOMs, and preventative maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High analytical ability for complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with others.
  • Proficient with PC hardware and common software (Windows).

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance engineering support for assembly processes, including trans/axle areas as needed.
  • Review station level drawings and BOMs, develop spare parts lists.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures for existing and future equipment.
  • Daily troubleshooting assistance for tooling and equipment breakdowns.
  • Develop and implement tooling for product changes.
  • Develop and implement assembly process methods.
  • Procure equipment; coordinate with purchasing and vendors.
  • Equipment certification (gages, torque guns, leak testers).
  • Occasional supervision of skilled trades.
  • Act as problem solver and technical coach for assemblers and supervisors.
  • Keep current with industry technological developments.
  • Participate in weekend production coverage rotation with CE team.
