Job summary

Tenneco is seeking an Accounts Payable & Payroll Clerk for its Blacksburg, Virginia facility. This full-time onsite role handles vendor invoicing, payroll processing, and related accounting duties, partnering with Finance, HR, and other departments to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Responsibilities include processing invoices and payroll, maintaining records, resolving discrepancies, and supporting month-end close.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
• 2–4 years of accounts payable, payroll, or related accounting experience preferred.
• Manufacturing payroll or accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to handle sensitive payroll and financial information confidentially.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with ERP or payroll systems such as Plex, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify vendor invoices accurately and timely.
• Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain vendor records and ensure documentation and approvals.
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve questions.
• Support payment processing (checks, ACH, wire transfers).
• Monitor accounts payable aging and follow up on past-due items.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing, including accruals and reporting.
• Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Review payroll data for accuracy and deductions.
• Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, and changes.
• Ensure payroll deadlines are met and confidentiality is maintained.
• Support payroll audits and reconciliations.
