Job summary

Tenneco Inc. in Blacksburg, Virginia is seeking an Accounts Payable & Payroll Clerk to support daily financial operations at the manufacturing facility.

The role handles vendor invoices, payments, employee wages, overtime, deductions, and payroll processing, working with Finance, HR, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This is a full-time onsite position requiring attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to meet weekly and monthly

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 2–4 years of accounts payable or payroll accounting experience.
• Manufacturing payroll or accounting experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to handle sensitive payroll and financial information confidentially.
• Proficient in Excel and MS Office.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Plex, SAP, Oracle or similar platforms preferred.
• Full-time onsite attendance is required.

Responsibilities

• Process and verify vendor invoices accurately and timely.
• Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain vendor records and ensure documentation and approvals are obtained.
• Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve questions.
• Support payment processing (checks, ACH, wires).
• Process weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees.
• Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.
• Partner with HR on new hires, terminations, and changes.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and questions.
• Ensure payroll is processed by deadlines and confidential.
