Job summary

The University of New England seeks an Enrollment and Retention Counselor (ERC) to guide non-traditional adult learners from inquiry to program completion. This hybrid role collaborates with program teams, faculty, and UNE departments to ensure a seamless student experience and strong enrollment performance.

The ERC manages the online student lifecycle, supports admissions requirements and program benefits, and handles inquiries via calls, email, and Zoom.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of sales experience or equivalent.
• Proven track record in a fast-paced, customer-facing role.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of higher education and sales processes is preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office and Outlook and able to learn new software.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while staying organized and professional.

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-volume inbound and outbound calls and emails with current and prospective students.
• Meet enrollment and retention targets as an individual and team member.
• Provide excellent customer service throughout the student funnel from application to graduation.
• Serve as an expert on assigned program portfolios, admissions requirements, and CPS policies.
• Schedule zoom and phone appointments and respond to written student inquiries promptly.
• Maintain CRM data integrity with detailed documentation of interactions.
• Communicate effectively with students, teammates, and other academic departments.
• Offer feedback on sales tactics, support practices, and enrollment strategies.
• Identify trends and marketing opportunities within portfolios.
• Assist with training and mentoring new team members.
• Provide enrollment support across time zones and for non-traditional students.
• Foster a positive, welcoming environment that supports diversity and outcomes.
• Other duties as assigned.
