Job summary

The University of Akron invites applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of English to teach in general education, English BA, and graduate programs. The teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester or equivalent, with standard service expected.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in English, or equivalent terminal degree.
Three years’ experience and demonstrated excellence teaching university-level English courses.
Ability to teach online courses in support of the Graduate Certificate in English Dual Credit Preparation.
Continued professional engagement with the fields of Composition and/or Rhetoric.
Ability to adapt to emerging technologies and integrate evolving tools and practices into teaching.

Responsibilities

Teach twelve credit hours per semester or equivalent.
Provide standard service as part of department duties.
Lead collaborations among faculty, students, and community partners addressing well-being, public safety, and civic engagement.
