Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Communication & Sensory Program. This 6.5-hour/day, 9-month, one-on-one position supports students with disabilities and implements educational plans under a certificated teacher's guidance.

Responsibilities include behavior support, data collection, and assisting with sensory integration, occupational, and speech/language activities. Weekend trainings may be required for CPI and safety.

Qualifications

• Documentation of a high school diploma or GED
• Associate degree or 72 quarter/48 semester credits or equivalent
• One year of related experience preferred
• Experience in educational team settings preferred
• Experience with students with disabilities preferred
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to think quickly and solve problems
• Experience working with diverse populations

Responsibilities

• Assist students with self-regulation and classroom activities
• Provide instructional support under certificated staff direction
• Assist with data collection and record keeping
• Prepare teaching materials and grade/classwork with rubrics
• Support teacher in implementing IEP goals
• Observe and report student behavior to staff
• Follow behavior management plans as appropriate
• Attend training and expand expertise in special needs education
