Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools (VPS) seeks a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Communication & Sensory Program. The role is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, assisting in classroom activities and supporting students with disabilities under supervision of certificated staff.

The ideal candidate will have education credentials per VPS requirements, strong interpersonal skills, and experience in collaborative educational teams.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED and either an Associate degree (90 quarter/60 semester) or 72 quarter / 48 semester credits, or ParaPro score 461+.
• One year of related experience in education preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with ability to support classroom goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with implementing and evaluating IEP goals and classroom objectives.
• Observe and record student progress; collect data as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with data entry, record keeping, and filing; support instructional activities.
• Grade/correct papers and homework using rubrics; monitor student performance.
• Support students with disabilities through behavior management and de-escalation as trained.
