Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator for Life Skills on a one-on-one basis. This 6-hour-per-day, nine-month position supports students with disabilities under the supervision of a teacher.

Responsibilities include implementing instructional activities, assisting with life skills, behavior support, data recording, and collaborating with the educational team. The role requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to lift and assist students as needed.

Qualifications

• Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED is required.
• Official transcripts verifying an Associate's degree or credits, or ParaPro Assessment result of 461+ is required.
• One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Experience as part of an educational team preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating goals on individual student IEPs.
• Provide instructional assistance and manage student behavior with guidance from certificated staff.
• De-escalate students during emotional/behavioral crises as needed.
• Dispense medication to students following district policy.
• Prepare teaching materials and maintain data collection records.
