Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1, Life Skills to provide dedicated one-on-one support in a life skills program. The position runs 6.5 hours per day for 9 months and requires assisting the teacher with instructional activities and student supervision.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the educational team, ability to de-escalate behavior, and participation in required trainings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Official transcripts or ETS ParaPro assessment results may be required.
• Experience with children in education settings preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities desired.
• Ability to learn and use classroom technology and adapt to student needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one support to students as assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with instructional activities and material preparation.
• Support behavior management and student safety under supervision.
• Attend mandatory trainings and comply with district policies.
• Participate in team meetings and communicate observations to certificated staff.
