Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools Hough Elementary in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1, Life Skills for a one-on-one assignment. The role runs 6.5 hours per day across 9 months, with starting immediately.

The position requires supporting a student with disabilities and working as part of a school team. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred experience in an educational setting and ability to implement life skills instruction under teacher

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree or 90 quarter/60 semester credits OR 72 quarter/48 semester credits from a accredited institution; or ParaPro 461+.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with goals and objectives on individual student IEPs.
• Provide instructional assistance in small groups or individually as directed.
• De-escalate students during emotional/behavioral crises.
• Assist with data entry, record keeping and lesson preparation.
• Escort and supervise students as needed and ensure safety.
