Job summary

Hoquiam School District No. 28 seeks a qualified paraeducator to support high-needs LifeSkills students 1:1.

The position works under certificated staff, may serve students individually or in groups, and requires Right Response Training. Responsibilities include assisting with academic instruction, implementing IEPs, supporting behavior programs, documenting progress, and maintaining a respectful, inclusive classroom.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college coursework or higher preferred.
• Associate’s degree or higher acceptable.
• Passing a qualifying academic assessment in reading, writing and math.
• Experience implementing reading interventions (Read Naturally, Phonics for Reading, Rewards).
• Physical ability to assist adults during student behavioral escalations.
• Willingness to receive crisis management, de-escalation training; playground supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivery of academic instruction across subject areas.
• Provide individualized and small group support per teacher guidance.
• Support student learning with practice, drills, and technology integration.
• Monitor and reinforce engagement in class activities.
• Mark/score tests and assist with classroom organization.
• Support implementation of IEPs and behavioral programs.
• Monitor and document student performance and behavior.
• Adapt instructional support to varied learning needs.
