Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools in Vancouver, WA, Walnut Grove Elementary, is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 1, Life Skills for a one-on-one student support role. The position offers 6.5 hours per day for 9 months per year, with an immediate starting date.

The role involves assisting the classroom teacher, implementing life skills programs, monitoring behavior, and participating in CPI/de-escalation training. This is a non-exempt, school-based position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with alternative education options.
• Associate degree or specified college credits OR ParaPro result required.
• One year of related experience in education preferred.
• Experience in educational team settings preferred.
• Ability to work well with diverse students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instructional activities and goals.
• Support students in life skills and classroom routines.
• Attend training and support CPI/de-escalation protocols.
• Observe, document student progress and behavior as directed.
• Assist with bathroom, feeding or mobility needs as trained.
• Support transportation safety and class activities as assigned.
