Job summary

Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho, NM, seeks a Unit Secretary/Nurse Tech for the Adult Oncology unit. Responsibilities include clerical support, patient monitoring, IV line handling under supervision, wound care, and assisting with daily living activities.

You will work 12-hour day shifts in a full-time role, with opportunities for tuition reimbursement, career development, and a safety-forward environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• BLS (AHA Healthcare Provider) certification required at time of hire.
• Preferred: CNA/MA or nursing student with skills lab, or at least 6 months direct patient care.
• On-the-job training and competency verification provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct customers; facilitate unit communication.
• Answer phones and process information; route messages.
• Monitor patients and document vitals for the patient record.
• Transport patients; document actions in patient records.
• Insert/ remove non-medicated IV lines under licensed supervision (where applicable).
• Perform basic bedside tests and wound care as directed.
• Assist with sterile procedures and prepare patients for surgery.
• Assist with daily living activities and oxygen administration.
• Maintain unit cleanliness, stock supplies, and prepare rooms for next patient.
