Job summary

Banner Health Corporate seeks a Referral Specialist to support oncology referrals, authorizations, and care coordination at our Scottsdale area facility. You will serve as the liaison between patients, providers and payors to move care forward and close care gaps, while aligning with HIPAA and payer requirements.

You will manage referrals, verify insurance, and work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely scheduling and seamless patient experiences in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT codes, and payer types.
• Proficiency with common office software and EMR systems.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving orientation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of referrals and appointments for specialty services and diagnostics.
• Arrange authorization for provider pre-planned in-office procedures.
• Serve as liaison between patients, providers, departments and staff; educate patients and families.
• Determine CPT Codes and authorization requirements with providers.
• Verify coverage and obtain payor authorization for referrals and services.
• Track referrals and close patient care gaps with timely communications.
• Maintain updated knowledge of payer regulations and resources.
