Job summary

Virginia Cancer Specialists in Arlington is seeking a full-time Patient Care Coordinator to serve as the medical liaison among patients, the practice, hospital, and payors. You will handle referrals, insurance verification, scheduling, and patient education, ensuring accurate charts and timely access to care.

Under supervision, you will follow established procedures, escalate non-routine issues, and support patients with financial resources and community services in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• At least two years of related experience such as medical coding or billing, patient advocate, or social services.
• Must be personable and able to verbally articulate information with others.
• Proficiency with computer systems, medical billing systems, and Microsoft Office Outlook & Word.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate physician referrals and schedule oncology-related medical appointments.
• Verify insurance eligibility and assist with pre-authorization and billing issues.
• Educate patients and provide updated education materials and resources.
• Refer patients to community services such as housing, transportation, or prosthetics.
• Maintain accurate patient demographics and documentation in the chart.
• Escalate non-routine issues to supervisor as needed.
