Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• At least two years related experience such as medical coding or billing, patient advocate, or social services.
• Ability to verbally articulate information and questions; personable; proficient with computer systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Before the first appointment, contact or meet with patient to collect basic chart information and medical history.
• Coordinate physician referrals and schedule oncology-related appointments; resolve billing and coding issues.
• Verify insurance eligibility, assess financial requirements, and obtain pre-authorization of services.
• Provide educational materials and maintain patient education resources.
• Refer patients to agencies and services (housing, transportation, wigs, prosthesis, counseling).
• Handle routine inquiries and escalate non-routine issues as needed.
