Job summary

Maryland Oncology Hematology is seeking a patient financial navigator to educate patients on insurance coverage and benefits, assess financial ability, and update eligibility data in our system. You will guide patients through coverage options and assistance programs, while coordinating pre-authorizations and ensuring accurate cost estimates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree in Finance or Business preferred, or four years revenue cycle experience.
• Minimum three years pre-services coordinator experience.
• Two years patient benefits experience required.
• Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding concepts.

Responsibilities

• Before first appointment, obtain diagnosis, insurance info, and demographics; estimate coverage and costs.
• During visit, educate on coverage, pre-authorizations, co-pays, and payment options; discuss financial assistance.
• Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes from Clinical Reviewer prior to treatment.
• Review balances and notify front desk; ensure correct co-pay entry in system.
• Process refunds/adjustments and address delinquent payments with patients or payers.
• Update demographics and insurance in the system per SOPs; maintain confidentiality.

CPT/HCPCS coding knowledge

Insurance billing knowledge

Education
