Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Med/Surg Oncology unit on the night shift (7P–7A). You will provide patient care, monitor vital signs, assist with daily living activities, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKGs, IV removal, and specimen collection under RN direction.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED and BLS within 90 days of hire, with CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or equivalent programs accepted.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Certification programs: CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Sentara Care Partner Program.
• US Navy Hospital Corps School or emergency services training accepted.
• RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical program completed or recent PCT/Nursing Assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and document changes.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
• Conduct EKG testing and peripheral IV removal.
• Assist with mobility and ambulation; maintain patient safety.
