Job summary

Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona is seeking a Certified Patient Care Assistant to join the Med/Surg-Oncology 4C unit. The role supports routine patient care, patient data collection and documentation, and works a 6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m. day shift with a 1:4-5 nurse-to-patient ratio and a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

This position offers a fast-paced environment with strong teamwork and opportunities to contribute to high-quality patient care on a level 1 trauma designated campus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Current CNA certification required for new hires.
• Arizona fingerprint clearance card may be required to work in certain Banner facilities.
• Minimum medical clerical experience; hospital or clinic setting preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and human-relations skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and support mobility and nutrition.
• Collect vitals, specimens, and input/output; document data per policy; transport specimens.
• Report health status changes to licensed staff and communicate care plans clearly.
• Assist with procedures and use of equipment under supervision; may include blood draws, catheter removal, and EKGs.
• Perform receptionist/clerical duties to support department operations.
• Maintain patient records and ensure chart forms are filed and accessible.
• Monitor supplies and equipment; assist with ordering as needed.
• Assist with patient transport to operating rooms and OR turnover as required.
• Work under supervision in a fast-paced environment with a focus on customer service.
