Job summary

Banner Health, Gilbert location, is seeking a Medical Assistant for Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. The role supports clinicians with exams, vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy and patient flow in a full-time, day-shift position.

The MA must hold national certification and a 12-month commitment to Banner Health. Strong computer skills and experience with EMR are preferred; the role includes a structured onboarding and barriers to ensure high patient care quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification is required.
• BLS certification required.
• 12 months working experience as an MA and national certification through NHA, NCCT, RMA/AMT, or AAMA with a 12 month commitment to Banner Health.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other measurements; documents pain scores and notifies clinician of changes.
• Assists providers with exams and minor procedures including blood pressure, respiration, heart rate, temperature, phlebotomies and EKGs; maintains patient flow.
• Coordinates/pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling; communicates test results to patient; assists with medication administration as directed.
• Provides clerical support for medical records, labs, X-rays, and billing information.
• Maintains clean exam rooms and equipment; follows sterilization procedures and OSHA guidelines; coordinates maintenance as needed.
• Orders supplies and stocks patient care areas; handles medication recalls and expirations.
• Develops effective communication with external and internal customers; demonstrates service orientation and teamwork.
• Completes onboarding/orientation and simulation training as directed.
