Job summary

Banner University Medical Center Phoenix is seeking a Medical/Surgical Oncology Patient Care Assistant to join a 30-bed unit with Med/Surg overflow. The role supports daily living for cancer patients and collaborates with chemotherapy-validated nurses for infusion-related tasks.

Day shift is 7:00 am–7:30 pm and night shift 7:00 pm–7:30 am, with 18% night differential and $1/hour weekend differential; self-scheduling is available. Rank and responsibilities align with unit needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current BLS certification.
Current CNA in state of practice.
At least 1 year of medical clerical or customer service experience.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Working knowledge of medical terminology.
ECG/EEG interpretation knowledge or training.

Responsibilities

Provide routine patient care to promote comfort and support the plan of care.
Collect patient data and document in medical records; assist with daily living activities.
Recognize abnormalities and report changes to a licensed professional.
Perform delegated procedures and assist with unit procedures under supervision.
Handle receptionist/clerical duties to support department operations.
Maintain patient records, chart forms, and supply levels; assist with orders in EMR.
Assist with patient transport and OR turnover as assigned.
Work in a fast-paced environment with strong customer service focus.
