Job summary

Covenant Health Oncology Group in Knoxville seeks an Oncology/Hematology Patient Schedule Coordinator to manage referrals and coordinate first appointments across seven locations. You will assemble medical records, verify patient contact information, coordinate insurance verification, and prepare patients for their first visit while liaising with office teams and partner providers.

Strong communication, medical terminology knowledge, and experience in medical settings or high-volume call centers

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical setting or high-volume patient call center.
• Preference for a Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Receives and documents new patient referrals from multiple channels.
• Triages referrals with medical staff and initiates records requests.
• Collects and verifies patient demographics and insurance data in registration systems.
• Communicates with referring providers, clinical staff, patients, and others.
• Reviews clinic schedules to maximize appointment availability per guidelines.
• Prepares and provides patient instructions and appointment details orally and in writing.
• Distributes new patient packets via MedChat, email, website download, or mail.
• Demonstrates professional communication and call-handling skills.
• Applies medical terminology knowledge in routine tasks.
• Complies with policies, safety standards, and continuous education.
