Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a Lead Service Attendant to create a welcoming onboard environment and lead a team delivering food and beverage service to passengers. The role emphasizes customer satisfaction, sanitation, and safe, compliant operations across all service stages.

The position requires strong communication, 21+ age for alcohol service, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods. Training and schedule flexibility are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer service or similar public contact role demonstrating responsibility and leadership.
• Strong, clear verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional demeanor.
• Attendance and safe work record must be satisfactory.
• High school diploma or GED is required, 21+ for alcohol service.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming atmosphere for Amtrak passengers and exceed customer expectations.
• Coordinate work and supervise food and wait staff for onboard service.
• Maintain rail car cleanliness and comply with FDA and Amtrak standards.
• Work independently while supporting service staff and ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively with passengers and crew during regular and off-schedule operations.
• Ensure safe practices and sanitation during loading, stocking, serving, cleanup, and end-of-trip close-outs.
• Oversee security, sale, handling, and accounting of food and beverage items.
• Adhere to cash and credit procedures and protect Amtrak funds.
• Follow uniform and grooming requirements and complete related paperwork.
• Operate a cash register or POS and follow established accounting procedures.
