Job summary

WestRock is seeking a Technical Trainer to deliver on-floor training and coordinate certification of operators and craftsmen in a manufacturing setting. This role reports to site General Manager/Plant Manager and collaborates with Operations Learning & Development to ensure certification processes are completed.

The position involves partnering with OPS L&D, creating training materials (SOPs, guided workflows), and conducting assessments for candidates and current teammates across all shifts.

Qualifications

• On-the-job training in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to assess trainee skills and certifications.
• Support creation/use of SOPs and guided workflows.
• Maintain relationships with trainees and leaders and participate in hiring assessments.

Responsibilities

• Completes daily technical training on the floor to assist with the Certification of team members.
• Partners with OPS L&D leader to support New Hire Orientation/ On Boarding Training, as needed.
• Assists with tracking, evaluating, and measuring training locally using the company’s Dept. Training Standards & Learning System tools.
• Supports site specific technical learning solution creation (SOPs, Guided Workflows, Technical Learning Aids) to assist training.
• Develops, builds, and maintains relationships with trainees & leaders in their role.
• Participates in new teammate hiring process – assesses candidates’ skills and provides hiring perspective.
• Conducts training on all shifts.
• Influences others to be safety-minded.
• Train the Trainer process and managing day-to-day Certification Processes with Ops L&D support.
• Additional duties as assigned.
