Job summary

Centerboard Inc is seeking a Direct Care Staff member to provide on-site assistance in the Emergency Assistance Housing Program, ensuring safe, orderly shelter operations and responsive family support. This full-time role requires adapting to rotating shifts and maintaining clear communication with residents and staff.

The position emphasizes frontline service, incident reporting, basic maintenance coordination, and strict adherence to safety procedures, with training provided in Orientation,

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Two years’ experience in housing services, residential programs, or public contact.
• Must possess strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; basic data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness of common areas.
• Remain awake, alert, and available to respond during shifts.
• Complete hourly rounds in- and outdoors during each shift.
• Document shift information in the log.
• Report maintenance requests and incidents.
• Assist new families arriving for shelter and placement.
• Ensure visiting guidelines and sign-in/out procedures are followed.
• Monitor entry/exit and safety protocols.
• De-escalate conflicts and report significant incidents.
• Assist with emergencies and evacuations per safety procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
