Job summary

CONAM Management is seeking a Business Manager (Assistant Community Manager) for Villa Del Sol Apts in San Jose, CA. This on-site role combines accounting and leasing responsibilities and requires stepping in as person-in-charge when the Community Manager is away.

Strong attention to occupancy and resident services is essential. The position offers full-time hours with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and retirement options.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in affordable apartment communities.
• 1-2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with HUD, LIHTC, and Section 8 is required.
• Understanding day-to-day operations of a multi-family community including leasing, financial reporting, and resident services.
• Ability to maintain high occupancy rates.
• Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; Yardi/MRI a plus.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage the financial operations of the apartment community, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and processing rent payments.
• Support the Community Manager with asset management, budgets, financial reports, and cost control measures.
• Oversee the leasing process for available apartments, from inquiries to move-ins.
• Maintain and update resident files, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Assist with marketing and advertising to fill vacancies.
• Ensure maximum occupancy by engaging with prospective residents, tours, and applications.
• Handle resident relations with excellent customer service.
• Document lease files and move-in/move-out records.
• Collaborate with the Community Manager to enforce policies and housing guidelines.
