Software Placement Group, SPG is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 3-month on-site contract in Rockville, MD to support its hospital laboratory team with accurate specimen collection and processing.

The ideal candidate holds a valid state phlebotomy certification, has at least 5 years of venipuncture experience in fast-paced settings, and is proficient with Microsoft Office. This contract may lead to permanent placement for the right person.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 5 work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data and decontamination activities.
• Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection methods clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Follow physicians' orders and match requisition forms to specimens.
• Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures.
• Ensure accuracy of test requisitions and computer labels.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
