Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification may be required by state law.
• Minimum 5 venipuncture procedures performed in fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Minimum 2 years of related healthcare experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and operate centrifuges as required (venipuncture).
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes to patients.
• Demonstrate proper technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Follow physicians' orders and lab protocols precisely.
• Match requisition forms to specimens, label, centrifuge, and freeze as needed.
• Verify test requisitions or labels for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport with proper temperature control.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend trainings.
• Answer calls and relay laboratory results when needed.
• Update patient information and maintain accurate records.
