Job summary

The CSU Bakersfield Auxiliary for Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) seeks a Project & Outreach Coordinator to lead the MESA program, coordinate academic support, and manage student success initiatives. You will work under the NSME GO Director, oversee budgets, recruit students, and collaborate with faculty and industry partners to meet grant objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a mathematics-based, engineering, science, or related STEM discipline.
• Two years of progressively responsible professional experience working with postsecondary students.
• Experience coordinating educational or student support programs.
• Experience providing academic advising, student success services, or related programming.
• Experience managing projects, budgets, or grant-funded initiatives.
• Licenses: Possession of a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations of the MESA Program by managing calendars, activity schedules, and grant deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and maintain supporting documentation.
• Maintain student eligibility and program records with confidentiality.
• Prepare programmatic, fiscal, and assessment reports and route for review.
• Monitor expenditures and assist with budget planning and procurement.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and propose improvements.
• Recruit and admit eligible MESA students and manage admissions procedures.
• Coordinate advising, tutoring, career development, and transfer activities.
• Plan workshops, industry talks, field trips, and professional development.
• Develop retention initiatives using program data and feedback.
