Job summary

Barstow Community College is seeking a Director for the Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program. The Director will manage day-to-day MCCP operations, coordinate with faculty sponsors and college administrators, and ensure compliance with state and district requirements.

The role includes budget oversight, program evaluation, and development of tutoring and academic support services in collaboration with TLSC and counseling staff.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Mathematics, Engineering or Science.
  • One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse backgrounds in education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Barstow Community College MESA Program.
  • Coordinate with Faculty Sponsor(s), Instructional Deans, and college administrators to meet MESA goals.
  • Maintain communication with the Chancellor’s Office to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Oversee program budget, review, and compliance with regulations.
  • Develop tutoring/academic support activities with TLSC and design AEWs for STEM students and faculty.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with MESA Counselor(s) to monitor progress and coordinate with Career and Transfer Centers for timely student transfer.
