Job summary

CSU Bakersfield Auxiliary for Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA) seeks a dynamic Student Professional Development Coordinator to guide NSME students in finding career opportunities, refining applications, and practicing interview skills. The role collaborates with CECE to enhance student readiness and programming.

The position emphasizes outreach to employers, workshop delivery, and ongoing assessment of internship opportunities, with a focus on STEM fields and district partnerships.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job‑related field; some experience in student services.
• Graduate level education may substitute for required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide information on career opportunities, job applications, interviews and communication skills in collaboration with CECE.
• Assist with resume writing and cover letter development for students in collaboration with CECE.
• Create and distribute bi‑weekly career and internship newsletters.
• Host career and internship workshops each semester and coordinate seminars with industry support.
• Present information at new student orientations and NSME courses as needed.
