Job summary

Forward Air Corporation in Minnesota seeks an Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day multimodal transportation and contract logistics activities. You will supervise frontline teams, manage safety, quality, and customer service, and drive productivity through Lean practices.

The role emphasizes adherence to SOPs, staff coaching, on-time performance, and continuous improvement with cross-functional collaboration across transportation, planning, and engineering.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; Associate's degree preferred.
• Valid forklift certification before operating equipment including sit-down/stand-up forklifts and reach trucks.
• 3+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, transportation or supply chain operations with supervisory responsibilities.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written).
• Working knowledge of WMS, TMS, ERP and reporting tools.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen or similar continuous improvement tools.
• Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (MHE) and follow safety protocols.
• Physical ability to work 8-12 hour shifts including lifting up to 50 lbs, occasional up to 75 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operational activities across logistics workflows.
• Coordinate and prioritize work assignments to meet targets.
• Ensure safe handling and on-time transport of inventory and equipment.
• Monitor labor and equipment usage for efficient execution.
• Enforce SOPs and safety policies across the site.
• Support audits and compliance with OSHA/DOT requirements.
