Job summary

Thornton Tomasetti in New York City is seeking a Laptop Refresh Technician to join the IT team. You will image, configure, and deploy new laptops, migrate user data, and coordinate deployments across offices.

This on-site role in Manhattan's Financial District runs Monday to Friday 8am–5pm. It offers hands-on IT support and opportunities to grow across IT disciplines while ensuring security and asset management.

Qualifications

• College degree in IT or 2+ years equivalent work experience.
• Familiarity with Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office, Active Directory.
• Imaging tools knowledge (SCCM/MDT or similar).
• Strong organizational, communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift and move equipment up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, image, and configure new laptops according to company standards.
• Migrate user data and settings from old devices to new laptops.
• Schedule and coordinate laptop deployments with employees and departments.
• Collect, inventory, and decommission old laptops following security protocols.
• Install necessary applications and updates on new devices.
• Provide first-level support during and after deployment to ensure user satisfaction.
• Document asset transfers and update the inventory management system.
• Work closely with the IT team to troubleshoot deployment issues.
• Ensure compliance with company IT security policies throughout the refresh process.
• Must be able to work independently at times with limited supervision.
• Have excellent customer service skills, be willing to take ownership of a ticket, and engage other departments if necessary to resolve.
