Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Field Buyer for Infrastructure in Clay, NY to support the creation and administration of purchase orders for the project. You will interact with suppliers and Bechtel staff to clearly define requirements and ensure compliance with PO terms.

Responsibilities include prequalifying bidders, preparing bid packages, evaluating bids, and expediting materials and equipment to meet project needs. On-site role with collaboration across engineering and project teams.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) with 5-8 years of relevant experience.
• Alternatively 9-12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Prepares bidder lists and prequalifies bidders.
• Coordinates with Engineering to define material requisitions and ensure procurement requirements.
• Prepares bid packages, issues bid requests, coordinates bidder questions, and receives bids.
• Prepares commercial bid summaries and award recommendations.
• Communicates with suppliers and Bechtel personnel to define requirements and ensure PO compliance.
• Identifies and defines PO changes and obtains agreement from appropriate parties.
• Prepares and processes PO revisions, documenting scope and cost/schedule impacts.
