Job summary

Clean Harbors in Des Moines, IA is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste in accordance with regulations and company policies. This is a customer-facing, field-based role working at customer sites daily.

The position serves as an entry-level management track within Clean Harbors, with training accelerated and potential growth into salary management positions after ~18–36 months.

Qualifications

• Valid driver license required.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Background check, drug test, and medical/physical as applicable.
• Compliance with OSHA respiratory protection standards.

Responsibilities

• Handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste per regulations.
• Work at customer sites daily; indoor and outdoor environments.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and disposal notifications.
• Inspect drums for leaks, labeling and compliance.
• Assist with HHW collections and lab moves.
