Job summary

Clean Harbors in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste at customer sites and labs. The role is outdoor/indoor and involves HHW collections, lab moves, and on-site support, not a traditional lab position.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Ability to perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
• Facial hair standards per OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by following all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
• Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
• Inspect staging, accumulating and storage areas for proper housekeeping and compliance.
• Inspect storage area and drums for leaks or spills.
• Inspect drums for labeling regulation compliance.
• Collect, segregate, and package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Perform jobs at Clean Harbors customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies.
• Approve final project preparations for shipment per OSHA, EPA, DOT and company policies.
• Conduct projects according to site-specific regulations and health and safety plans.
• Understand customer-specific disposal restrictions and packaging requirements.
• Sample and profile new waste streams or any waste needing analytical testing.
