Job summary

Clean Harbors in Baltimore, MD is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste at customer sites. This role is customer-facing and not laboratory-based, with training and growth opportunities across 200+ branches.

The position emphasizes safety, compliance with federal/state/local regulations, and teamwork within Clean Harbors Technical Services.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills.
• By position, obtain a CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Perform physical functions per job requirements.
• Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position.
• Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the top priority by following all safe work practices.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
• Inspect staging, storage areas and drums for leaks, spills and labeling compliance.
• Package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and compliance.
• Perform projects at customer locations and ensure shipment readiness per OSHA, EPA, and DOT policies.
