Job summary

Clean Harbors in Bristol, CT is seeking an Environmental Field Chemist to handle, segregate, pack, and inspect chemical waste at customer sites and facilities. This is an entry-level, customer-facing role with on-site work indoors and outdoors.

You will support lab packs, HHW collections, and compliance with OSHA/EPA regulations, receiving hands-on training and opportunities for advancement within Clean Harbors.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver’s license; background check, drug test, and physical as required.
• CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
• Schedule: Monday–Friday (hours vary); at least two Saturdays per month.
• Per OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard, facial hair rules for respirator use.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize Health and Safety; follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Prepare packing lists, labels, manifests and disposal notifications.
• Inspect staging, storage areas and drums for leaks, spills and labeling compliance.
• Collect and package waste chemicals for disposal, ensuring proper segregation.
• Perform projects at Clean Harbors customer sites and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist in site-specific disposal plans and health & safety plans.

Skills

Strong customer service skills
