Job summary

Redwood Materials seeks an Electrical Engineer, Energy Storage, to own the LV electrical system architecture for high‑power energy storage products, including system controller PCBA, MCU selection, and CAN/Ethernet communications. You will design isolated sensing circuits and auxiliary power supplies for ~100W LV subsystems, interfacing with battery packs and PV/grid systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering with focus on embedded systems, controls, or power electronics.
• 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering with system‑level control architecture.
• Hands‑on experience designing MCU‑based system controllers and control for power converters.
• Experience with CAN/Ethernet protocols for module‑to‑controller and controller‑to‑grid interfaces.
• Strong lab skills, testing, fault analysis, and knowledge of high‑power environments.

Responsibilities

• Own LV electrical system architecture for power electronics products and the system controller PCBA.
• Design and integrate system controller hardware, including MCU selection and communication protocols.
• Design isolated sensing circuits and auxiliary power supplies for LV subsystems (~100W).
• Coordinate protective circuits with hardware interlocks and E‑stop loops for safety.
• Define LV wiring, grounding, and interconnect strategy across the product.
• Lead testing/validation for PCBA and power electronics, including fault analysis.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Firmware, Validation, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Compliance to meet certifications (IEEE 1547, UL 1741).
