Job summary

Reboot Monkey in Arlington Heights, United States seeks a Data Center Technician for an on-site, freelance permanent role. You will install, configure, and maintain server and network gear, perform structured cabling, and monitor critical infrastructure with on-call rotation.

Expect night/weekend differentials where applicable, and a benefits package including health, PTO, and development support. Strong documentation and ITIL familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• 3+ years data center operations experience.
• Expert cabling skills (Cat6/6a, OM3/OM4/OS2 fiber).
• Knowledge of power distribution and UPS systems.
• Experience with rack and stack operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Vendor certifications and DCIM familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server and network equipment.
• Perform structured cabling (copper and fiber optic).
• Execute hardware deployments and decommissions.
• Monitor environmental systems (power, cooling, security).
• Respond to incidents and perform troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate documentation and asset tracking.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams.
• Participate in capacity planning and upgrades.
