Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Safety Engineer to support the safety manager on construction projects. You will implement safety policies, assist in planning and monitoring activities, and address unsafe conditions in both field and office settings. This is a safety-sensitive role.

You will participate in safety audits, incident investigations, secure OSHA inspections when needed, and monitor safety performance across the project team. The position emphasizes teamwork and proactive safety leadership.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree is preferred.
• Occupational Safety and Health degree suggested.
• Valid Driver's License, required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with Office software including Excel-based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk.

Responsibilities

• Effectively communicate with stakeholders including Hensel Phelps staff and trade partners.
• Knowledgeable of the safety program, owner requirements and regulatory standards (e.g., EM 385-1-1).
• Assist the project superintendent in accident prevention plan maintenance and safety management tools.
• Participate in the six-step quality control/safety process including activity hazard analyses and follow-up inspections.
• Conduct project safety audits including project point files.
• Assist with OSHA inspections as necessary.
• Assist with accidents and near-miss investigations and reporting.
• Monitor safety performance of Hensel Phelps and trade partners.
• Attend awareness and competent person level courses.
• Learn construction processes and roles across positions.
