Job summary

Guy F. Atkinson Construction is seeking a Project Engineer in Los Angeles to provide administrative and technical services in scheduling, cost engineering, subcontract coordination, and project administration on heavy civil projects.

You will work with project managers and superintendents, oversee budgets and reporting, review invoices, and support change orders while upholding safety and Atkinson’s standards.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience on commercial/heavy civil projects from start to finish.
• High degree of initiative, independence, personal responsibility, and integrity.
• Willingness to speak up, listen, ask open-ended questions, and learn from others.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Actively pursue safety training and embrace Atkinson safety culture.
• Participate in TRACK process; attend daily/weekly meetings and field inspections.
• Develop relationships with craft personnel, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and office staff.
• Plan ahead to keep crews efficient and on schedule.
• Prioritize daily tasks by deadlines and material lead times.
• Provide prompt information, notices, and requests to agencies and vendors.
• Communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form.
• Investigate issues, ask questions, and propose solutions.
• Beat the estimated budget and track/change orders impact.
• Pursue self-development beyond assigned responsibilities.
• Produce safe, efficient construction engineering products.
• Track quantities for budgets, forecasts, and reports.
• Review invoices and pay subcontractors/vendors timely.
• Gather documentation for change orders and requisitions.
