Avison Young is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to support building operations on-site. The role involves minor repairs, cleaning, and coordinating with management and vendors to keep properties safe and functional.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in commercial property maintenance, solid problem solving, and the ability to work autonomously with a professional appearance. On-site work with potential overtime and emergency response included.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; some college a plus.
• 5+ years of related experience in a commercial property.
• Apprentice program or trade school a plus.
• Well-presented, professional appearance at all times.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Dependable, reliable with good time management.
• Able to work autonomously and handle priority tasks.
• Strong communication with team, tenants, and vendors.
• May require shift work or on-call duties.
• Detail-oriented with multi-project capability.
• Basic MS Office knowledge (Outlook) on phone/PC.

Responsibilities

• Conduct walk-throughs of tenant and common areas and report maintenance issues.
• Perform general maintenance, cleanliness, and ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Assist Building Management with special projects.
• Carry out minor plastering, painting, plumbing, and door/lock repairs.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with vendors as needed.
• Maintain compliance with codes and safe work practices.
• Support with snow removal, ice melt, and outdoor cleanliness.
• Ensure clear and presentable hallways and entrances.
