Job summary

Avison Young, a global commercial real estate advisor, is seeking a General Maintenance Technician. The role covers minor building repairs, groundskeeping and ensuring overall cleanliness of properties.

Base hourly rate ranges from $22.00 to $25.00 with potential bonus, reflecting market data and location factors across the US. The position requires a High School diploma or GED, 5+ years of related experience, and a professional appearance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; some college a plus.
• 5+ years of related experience in a commercial property.
• Graduate of apprentice program or trade school is a plus.
• Must always have a clean and professional appearance.
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Must be dependable, reliable and possess good time management skills.
• Must be proactive and can work autonomously.
• Excellent management skills and ability to work with all levels of employees, tenants, and vendors.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• May require extended shifts or on-call duties.

Responsibilities

• Walk-throughs of tenant and common areas, report maintenance issues.
• General maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness of buildings and equipment.
• Assist Building Management with special projects.
• Minor plastering, painting, plumbing, and door/lock repairs as needed.
• Inform management of operations and any issues; respond to emergencies.
• Meet vendors for scheduled maintenance and provide access as needed.
• Ensure code compliance, safety, and cleanliness across facilities.
• Light cleaning tasks in entryways, hallways and common areas.
