Job summary

HWC Engineering in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a knowledgeable Resident Project Representative to monitor civil construction projects on-site, ensuring compliance with plans, specs, and INDOT standards. You will maintain daily inspection reports, manage budget-related tasks, and coordinate between contractors, designers, and project owners.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and field testing of asphalt, soils, concrete per INDOT standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering, or a high school diploma with related experience.
• 5 years of relevant, progressive experience in civil engineering or construction management for supervisor role; 2 years for inspector role.
• Successful completion or actively seeking completion of the six INDOT Certified Technician exams.
• Ability to travel up to 100 miles per day.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong ability to work with a team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of roads, bridges, utilities, drainage and other infrastructure components.
• Serve the project owner as on-site representative.
• Maintain a daily report of construction inspection activities.
• Complete financial duties of the contract, including pay estimates and change orders, and assist with budget control.
• Ensure the project is built according to plans and specifications.
• Examine finished installations to ensure conformity to standards.
• Perform material testing per INDOT standards.
• Assist with coordination of utility relocation efforts.
• Liaise between contractor and design firm.
• Liaise between project owner and public; manage detour notices and public concerns.
• Host routine progress coordination and scheduling meetings.
