Job summary

Electrical Automation Services seeks a skilled Controls Engineer to provide on-shift automation support at its facility in Glendale, AZ. You will diagnose PLC, HMI, and drive issues, mentor maintenance staff, and drive improvements for throughput and reliability.

The role requires 4+ years in industrial automation, strong PLC/HMI expertise, and the ability to work 2-2-3 schedule, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM. Relocation assistance is available and a 20% target bonus is included.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering technology, information systems, industrial automation and controls, or a related technical discipline.
• At least four years of industrial automation or controls experience in high-speed manufacturing environments (food & beverage, chemical, pharma, etc.).
• Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
• Experience troubleshooting automated production, conveyor, and packaging equipment.
• Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, industrial networks, and electrical control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control drawings.
• Excellent communication across multiple plant departments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for automated production lines.
• Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, and network issues.
• Identify recurring problems and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Lead and manage control projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
• Support high-speed beverage processing, filling, canning, conveying, and packaging systems.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and quality teams.
