Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Manager for Housing Operations to oversee daily activities and staff across multiple buildings, ensuring a safe, clean, and well-run living experience for students and guests on campus.

You will supervise 8–15 employees, coordinate with maintenance and custodial teams, and manage schedules, safety, and quality standards while aligning with Penn State values.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily activities of staff and technical service employees to ensure safe, effective operations and maintain housekeeping/maintenance standards.
• Inspect residential areas and monitor staff performance to ensure compliance with standards.
• Identify maintenance issues, initiate projects and oversee corrective actions by internal teams and contractors.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations, advise on performance, discipline, and safety incidents.
• Maintain safety standards and monitor life safety and security systems; coordinate with University Police as needed.
• Monitor budget and monthly statements to meet financial goals.
• As a designated Essential Employee, prepare for and respond to incidents to ensure continuity of operations; be on-call for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
