Job summary

BKF is hiring an on-call Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. The role requires reading and interpreting complex plans, supervising civil work, and maintaining inspection records.

Candidates should have a college degree or 5+ years in Transportation/Civil projects, 4+ years in supervision or inspection, and a valid California driver's license. Certifications like CPII and ICC variants are preferred.

Qualifications

College degree or minimum 5 years’ Civil/Transportation project experience.
4+ years supervising or inspecting engineering construction work.

Responsibilities

Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects.
Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of any variances from approved plans and specifications.
Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assists in conducting field tests.
Checks the location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
Inspects earthwork grading, placement of asphalt concrete, proportions, and control of mixes.
Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFIs, CCOs.
Verifies acceptability of material via Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, test reports.
Maintains material and inspection records.
